CITIZENS REPORT FRAUD ATTEMPTS>
Several Yamhill County citizens reported fraudulent telephone solicitations this past week according to Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree. “The information we have is that a person claiming to represent Oregon State Sheriff’s has made telephone calls to Yamhill County residents soliciting donations” Sheriff Dotson said. “It’s likely that this type of activity is not limited to just one Oregon County” the Sheriff added.
“It is important for our citizens to remember that the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association does not solicit money via telephone. If you receive a telephone solicitation purporting to represent Oregon Sheriff’s: the caller is attempting to steal your money” said the Sheriff.
Sheriff Dotson urges anyone who has received solicitation phone calls such as this, that they believe are suspicious, to contact the Oregon Department of Justice Consumer Hotline. They can be contacted Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. by calling 1-877-877-9392.
