Lincoln County Jail |
Summary:
Sheriff Dotson is pleased to announce that the Lincoln County Jail recently went on-line for inmate law library services.
According to Oregon Revised Statues (ORS), inmates must have access to these types of materials. Previously they were allowed access to a Jail Law Library and could conduct research using many different reference books. Because of the periodic updates to legal books, and the numerous staff hours that it took to insert the updates, we have found that the on-line service is able to provide all of that for us.
Each housing unit is now equipped with a computer and printer for inmates to access and research their legal matters. If an inmate needs to print off a document, they are required to purchase the paper, costing .15 cents per page. Inmates who do not have funds are still allowed to print needed documents. This needed equipment was purchased using inmate commissary revenue, and did not require any tax dollars.
