Summary:
On February 23, 2007 the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office had a patrol car working in the Newport area during the Wine & Sea Food Festival on a DUII grant funded by the Department of Transportation on the infacence of detecting intoxicated drivers.
While working the DUII grant Deputy Cummings observed a green colored Mitsubishi perform an illegal U-Turn on U.S. Hwy 101 near SW Abby St. in Newport, Oregon. Deputy Cummings conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Grant K. Brannaman, age 22, of Newport. During the contact Deputy Cummings observed several signs of impairment. Deputy Cummings conducted a DUII Investigation and arrested Mr. Brannaman for Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol. Mr. Brannaman was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was lodged. Mr. Brannaman refused to provide a breath sample.
Mr. Brannaman's vehicle was Impounded and he received an additional citation for refusing to provide a breath sample. Mr. Brannaman's bail was set at $7,500.
