Incident: VOLUNTEER RAISES FUNDS FOR NEW EQUIPMENT FOR YOUR SHERIFFS OFFICE
Date Occurred: February 22, 2007
Time Occurred:
Location: Lincoln County

Summary:

Lincoln County resident, Rosalie Raudsep, started the “Campaign to Help Make a Safer Lincoln County” to raise money for digital video camera systems to be installed in your Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office patrol cars. These camera systems will record various incidents including traffic stops and DUII investigations. They have been proven to be an extremely valuable tool by law enforcement agencies around the nation. Agencies using these systems report that many cases do not go to trial because of the very credible video evidence, thereby saving our precious tax dollars. In today’s litigious society it does not take long for a video system to prove its worth.

As of February 1st, 2007 The “Campaign to Help Make a Safer Lincoln County” has raised $15,829.00 to pay for one video camera for a patrol car and a 5 Terabyte Server to store the information.

Your Sheriff’s Office had one dash mounted video camera in a patrol car several years ago. In December, 2005 this patrol car was being driven on patrol and was struck by an intoxicated driver. Insurance funds were used recently to replace this camera with a modern digital camera system.

A third camera system was purchased with the District Attorney’s OLCC funds. Rosalie Raudsep, the volunteer fundraiser for the campaign hopes to obtain three additional camera systems through additional fund raising throughout Lincoln County.

Sheriff Dotson stated, “This campaign was the idea of Rosalie from the very start and we are very grateful for her support and the efforts she has expended on this project.” “We are also very grateful to everyone who has contributed funds to this campaign.” “These cameras will be of great benefit to the deputies and the citizens of this county.”
