Lincoln County Jail |
Summary:
Sheriff Dotson is pleased to announce that the Lincoln County Jail recently entered into an agreement with the Social Security Administration (SSA) to receive incentive payments for those inmates who meet the necessary requirements for suspension of benefits during their incarceration.
The 1996 legislation that created the opportunity to obtain reporting agreements with correctional facilities authorized the SSA to make payments to correctional facilities for reporting information resulting in suspension of SSI benefits. State and local correctional facilities are eligible for a $400 incentive payment per suspended inmate for information received within 30 days of confinement, or an incentive payment of $200 is paid for information received after 30 days, but within 90 days of confinement.
Since 1997, SSA has paid over $165 million dollars in incentive payments. To date, Lincoln County has benefited from approximately $2,200.00.
