Lincoln County Roadways |
Summary:
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is advising drivers to be aware of law enforcements’ use of glow sticks in place or in conjunction with cones and flares on Lincoln County roadways.
With the recent inclement weather, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and other law enforcement agencies, have responded to numerous traffic hazards and related traffic crashes on roadways in Lincoln County. The hazards have included trees falling across the roadways, power lines laying on the roadway, rocks and other items falling or blowing into traffic, water standing and running across roadways, icy spots, and traffic collisions into these hazards.
Traditional flares are not always practical or useful in the weather conditions related to many of these hazards. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, the Oregon State Police, and other law enforcement agencies in Lincoln County have introduced the use of glow stick in place of traffic flares. The glow sticks may be in a variety of colors, but are normally green or red. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is asking motorists to treat roadside glow sticks in the same manner as traffic flares. Please slow down and be vigilant of a hazard or traffic crash ahead.
Please remember that traffic safety is the job of every motorist and a strong partnership between motorists and law enforcement benefits us all.
