Summary:
On November 15th, 2006 at 11:59pm, Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy John Beckwith responded to a report of breaking glass at 5830 El Mar Avenue in Gleneden Beach. When Deputy Beckwith arrived he observed the residence had been forcibly entered and burglarized. Deputy Beckwith located a male subject, Ryan Paterson Butler, age 37, of Aberdeen Washington, walking through the neighborhood. While Deputy Beckwith was speaking with Butler a black 1997 Saturn coupe pulled up and then sped away from the area. Deputy Beckwith learned the driver of the vehicle was Shawn D. Petzold, age 36 of Gleneden Beach. Deputy Beckwith searched the area but was unable to locate the vehicle.
On November 16th, at 7:28 am Deputy Juston Alexander responded to a second burglary at 220 El Pino Avenue and a suspicious vehicle at 5370 El Mirador Way in Gleneden Beach. Deputy Alexander observed the El Pino Aveune residence had been forcibly entered and burglarized. Deputy Alexander located the suspicious vehicle which matched the description of the vehicle from the night before. Deputy Alexander learned the vehicle was registered to Mr. Butler.
Deputy Alexander and Deputy Gary Davey contacted Mr. Butler and Mr. Petzold at 10 Breeze Street, #17, in Gleneden Beach. Deputies Alexander and Davey located the stolen items from the two burglaries and three boat motors that were stolen from Siletz Moorage in Kernville the night before. Butler and Petzold were taken into custody and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail. Butler and Petzold are each being held on a $310,000 bail.
