October 22, 2006 |
| Time Occurred: |
Approximately 10:00 AM |
| Location: |
Captain Squeeky's Laundromat, Waldport, OR |
Summary:
On 10/23/06 at about 1016 hours, Deputy Miller responded to Captain Squeeky's Laundromat, 215 SW Arrow Street, Waldport, Oregon regarding a complaint of criminal damage to a commercial washing machine. One of the machines had the door ripped open damaging the door and the internal wash tub inside. The machine is valued at $2500 and will likely have to be replaced due to the damage.
The manager had received a cell phone message from a male who called from the laundromat on 10/22/06 reporting that he was going to rip the door off the machine if the manager did not respond immediately. The manager did not get the message until the next day when the damage was discovered.
Deputy Miller contacted the owner of the cell phone, and the male identified himself as Charles Eugene Godfrey, 52 of Yachats. Godfrey initially denied causing the damage, reporting that another male used his phone. Godfrey later admitted causing the damage after the machine would not work properly. He was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail for Criminal Mischief I, and held on $25,000 bail.
