Summary:
On October 24, 2006 the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a single vehicle crash near mile post 2 on U.S. Hwy 34. While enroute Deputy Cummings was notified the driver of the crashed vehicle had been picked up at the scene by another vehicle and had left the area. Witnesses at the crash scene reported the driver of the other vehicle appeared to be intoxicated. Deputy Cummings located the other vehicle on U.S. Hwy 101 near mile post 153 and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver of the other vehicle, identified as Anthony J. Overholser, age 21 of Waldport, Oregon showed signs of intoxication. Upon completing a DUII investigation Deputy Cummings arrested Overholser for DUII and transported him to the Lincoln County Jail. Overholser provided a breath sample and his BAC was measured at .10%. Overholser's vehicle was impounded and he was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail. His bail was set at $7,500.00
A passenger inside Mr. Overholser's vehicle, identified as Nathaniel L. Hargrove, age 20 of Waldport, Oregon was determined to be the operator of the single vehicle crash on U.S. Hwy 34. Deputy Cummings detected signs of impairment on Hargrove as well. Hargrove was transported to Samaritain Pacific Community Hospital for injuries sustained in the vehicle crash. Hargrove was contacted at the emergency room in Newport, Oregon by OSP Trooper Plummer and arrested for DUII. Due to the nature of his injuries Hargrove was cited and released at the hospital.
