Summary:
On October 16th, 2006 at about 4:25pm, Deputy Chris Miller responded to a report of a burglary at 3011 E. Alsea Hwy., Space #7, Waldport, Oregon. The resident, Rodney J. Baker, 49 of Waldport reported that his rent money in the form of a money order had been stolen. Deputy Miller contacted the Waldport Post Office to verify the purchase of the money order since Baker reported the receipt to have been stolen as well.
The Post Office records indicated that Baker had not purchased a money order. Deputy Miller questioned Baker about the report, and Baker admitted that he had fabricated the story because he did not have the money to pay his rent. Baker was arrested and released for Initiating a False Police Report. Baker received a criminal citation with a bail of $2,500.
