Summary:
On October 17, 2006 at about 11:30pm, Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a missing person who was last known to be riding an ATV on the 3100 Road leading into private forest lands owned by Forest Capitol. Joseph Allen Dunmire, age 42 of Newport. Dunmire reportedly rode the ATV around a locked gate posted with a ‘No Trespassing’ sign. Dunmire’s friends became concerned when he did not return before dark.
During a search of the area Dunmire was located approximately 1 ½ miles from the Carmel Knoll gate, unharmed. Dunmire was arrested for Criminal trespass in the 2nd degree. During a search of Dunmire’s person Deputy Bruster found Dunmire to be in possession of Marijuana. Dunmire was transported to the Lincoln County Jail. During a further search by correction deputies Dunmire was found to be in the possession of Methamphetamine.
Dunmire was arrested for Criminal trespass in the 2nd degree, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Marijuana. Dunmire’s bail was set at $127,500.
Members of the Oregon State Police assisted with the investigation.
