Summary:
On June 2, 2006, Deputy Teem and Deputy Cameron responded to the area of Fishing Rock St. in Lincoln Beach on a possible suicidal subject. Deputies located the subject's vehicle unoccupied at the end of Fishing Rock St. in a State Park.
Deputy Teem located a note inside the vehicle that indicated the subject was going to commit suicide. Deputy Teem and Deputy Cameron spoke to a witness that stated they had seen the subject walk down a path towards the ocean.
Both Deputies checked the area and located the subject lying on the rocks above the water, semi-conscious. Deputies detained the subject for safety. With the assistance of the United States Coast Guard and Depoe Bay Fire personnel, Deputies Teem and Cameron were able to secure the subject into a rescue basket deployed by the USCG helicopter. The USCG helicopter transported the subject to awaiting medical staff near the location.
The subject was transported by Pacific West Ambulance to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport on a Police Officer Hold for a mental health evaluation.
